PhpBB created bulletin boards, more commonly known nowadays as forums. A forum is a public meeting place for discussion of numerous topics. For eight years now phpBB has become the most popular open source forum featuring a user friendly interface and admininstration control panel.
PhpBB is open-source software and can be used and distributed freely under the GPL ("GNU General Public License"). Please be sure to read the phpBB License Agreement before downloading the software.It is maintained and developed by a community of thousands of users and developers.
You can attempt to set up phpbb if your prepared for a little bit of reading and possibly some patience. The program comes with many different templates/skins that may be exactly what your looking for without the need for a graphic designer or programmer. For an easy setup we have also added an easy installation guide at the bottom of this page.
Product support for phpBB is readily available on www.phpBB.com. There is detailed documentation, video tutorials, and even a support forum with other users and administrators who are happy to help with any configuration questions you may have.
There are numerous modifications and styles available which can be used to customise you forum. Check the phpBB website or do a google search including the keywords "phpBB". There is a large range of resources available on the web.
Please Note: These installation instructions only apply for hosting with Digital Pacific.
Step 1
Download the latest release of the software from phpp.com.
Once the download has complete extract the files to your desktop.
Step 2
Go to filezilla-project.org and download the latest release of the software.
Install the filezilla ftp program on your computer. This program will enable you to upload these files to your web server.
Step 3
Open filezilla and login to your hosting account.
Host: www.yoursite.com.au
Username: username@yoursite.com.au
Password: Would have been sent to you via email from digital pacific.
Once you have entered your login information into filezilla click the quick connect button.
If you have trouble connecting to your server then check the host, username and password information you have entered are correct.
Step 4
Upload all files into your mainwebsite_html folder.
Step 5
Login to your ensim control panel www.yoursite.com.au/admin and create a new mysql database.
